GRIEF & FAMILY SUPPORT
Support for the people who are caring, coping, and grieving.
Hospice care recognizes that serious illness affects the entire family. Emotional support, practical guidance, and bereavement resources can help loved ones feel less alone throughout the journey.
FAMILY-CENTERED SUPPORT
Caregivers need support too.
Family members often balance caregiving, decision-making, work, household responsibilities, uncertainty, and grief at the same time. Hospice can provide education, emotional support, practical guidance, and a place to ask difficult questions.
Support is individualized. Some families want frequent conversation and guidance, while others prefer a quieter level of involvement. The hospice team respects those differences.
HOW FAMILIES MAY BE SUPPORTED
Guidance before, during, and after a loss.
- Education about what families may expect as illness progresses
- Emotional support for patients, caregivers, and loved ones
- Practical guidance around caregiving stress and family concerns
- Social-work support for community resources and planning needs
- Spiritual support when desired by the patient or family
- Bereavement information and grief support after a death
- Help recognizing when additional community or professional support may be useful
CAREGIVER SUPPORT
Clearer information can make difficult moments more manageable.
Understanding changes
The hospice team can explain common changes in condition and help caregivers know what to watch for.
Knowing when to call
Families receive guidance about concerns that should be shared with the hospice team and have access to 24/7 on-call support.
Making space for grief
Grief can begin before a death and continue long afterward. Hospice support acknowledges that grief is personal and does not follow one timetable.
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT
Grief support continues beyond the bedside.
Bereavement services are designed to help families process loss, understand grief reactions, and identify resources that may be helpful. The type and timing of support can vary based on individual and family needs.
You do not have to carry every part of this alone.
If your family needs guidance, emotional support, or help understanding the hospice journey, our team is here to listen.
