MEDICAL EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
Equipment and supplies coordinated to support safe, comfortable care.
When included in the hospice plan of care, certain medical equipment and supplies may be arranged to help support comfort, mobility, positioning, safety, and day-to-day care needs.
SUPPORTING CARE AT HOME
The right equipment can make caregiving more manageable.
Hospice-related equipment is not provided as a retail service. Items are coordinated when they are medically appropriate and connected to the patient’s hospice plan of care.
The hospice team helps determine what is needed, explains how equipment supports the care plan, and coordinates with appropriate suppliers when applicable.
WHAT MAY BE COORDINATED
Items depend on the patient’s needs and plan of care.
- Hospital bed or pressure-relief surfaces when appropriate
- Wheelchair, walker, or other mobility-support equipment
- Oxygen equipment when clinically indicated
- Bedside commode or other safety-related equipment
- Disposable supplies related to the hospice plan of care
- Other equipment recommended by the hospice team for comfort or safety
HOW IT WORKS
A simple process coordinated through the hospice team.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What families often ask about equipment.
Is every item automatically included?
No. Coverage and coordination depend on whether the item is related to the hospice plan of care and clinically appropriate.
Who decides what is needed?
The hospice team evaluates the patient’s condition, care setting, comfort goals, and practical needs.
What if needs change later?
The team can reassess equipment and supply needs as the patient’s condition and care plan evolve.
